Nearly four months after the actor’s sudden passing at his residence in Bristol, England, authorities have determined that his death resulted from a mixture of multiple substances, as stated by assistant coroner Deborah Rookes.

During the inquest held on May 28 at Avon Coroner’s Court, it was disclosed that Danan’s system contained trace amounts of heroin, cocaine, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, and zopiclone. The combination of these drugs, both prescribed and illicit, along with benzodiazepines, led to respiratory failure that proved fatal, the BBC reported.

Coroner Rookes emphasized that the death was classified as a “misadventure,” indicating an accidental overdose rather than intentional self-harm. She clarified, “There is no evidence before me that Paul intended to end his life at this time. He had a long history of substance misuse and mental health challenges.”

Furthermore, she expressed her condolences, stating, “Paul Danan was clearly well-loved and is deeply missed.”

Before the official verdict, a heartfelt statement from his mother, Beverley Danan, was read aloud in court, celebrating her son’s life and legacy.

“Paul touched many lives across different backgrounds, but he struggled to help himself in the same way. His cheerful smile and zest for life will always be remembered,” the statement read, as reported by the BBC.

Following his passing, Danan’s management team reflected on his vibrant personality and the impact he made in the entertainment industry.

“Known for his charismatic presence, unique talent, and genuine kindness, Paul was a guiding light for many. His untimely departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him,” they shared in a social media tribute on January 16.
