CCAJP Criticizes the “Big Beautiful Bill” as a Devastating Blow to Small Businesses and Calls for Legislative Reforms

Reimagining the Approach to Supporting Main Street Entrepreneurs

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 29, 2025 – The Coalition for Crowdfunding American Jobs and Prosperity (CCAJP) has issued a forceful critique of the recently passed House legislation dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” describing it as a significant boon for large corporations and the ultra-wealthy, while neglecting the critical needs of small businesses across the nation.

A Betrayal of Small Business Interests

Brian Christie, Co-Chair of the Crowdfunding Policy Alliance (CfPA) and spokesperson for CCAJP, expressed strong disapproval: “This legislation represents a profound betrayal of Main Street America. It offers little to no support for small enterprises striving to adapt and thrive in today’s challenging economic landscape. Instead, it consolidates advantages for corporate giants backed by powerful lobbyists and insulated global supply chains.”

Despite optimistic claims from its proponents, the bill’s core provisions predominantly favor well-established corporate interests. It includes permanent tax incentives for large corporations and expands loopholes that facilitate wealth transfer among the ultra-rich. Conversely, small businesses are left with minimal benefits, such as a limited pass-through deduction, and no provisions to address systemic issues like supply chain disruptions, market volatility, or access to capital.

Industry Leaders Voice Concerns

At last week’s EntreLeadership Summit, Dave Ramsey, founder of Ramsey Solutions, sharply criticized Washington’s approach to small business support. “The narrative that Washington loves small business is a complete myth,” Ramsey stated. “What small entrepreneurs really need is a stable, predictable environment. It’s the chaos and uncertainty that crushes small businesses, not the lack of support.”

A Missing Opportunity: The TRUMP Jobs Act

CCAJP emphasized that Congress has overlooked a promising alternative-the TRUMP Jobs Act-which proposes a 50% tax credit for investments through Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF). This legislation has the potential to create approximately one million new jobs annually and inject an estimated $120 billion into the economy.

“This is the grassroots policy that can truly empower small businesses,” said Jenny Kassan, President of CfPA. “It’s a straightforward, effective way to stimulate job growth and economic activity from the ground up.”

Call to Action for Senators

As the bill advances to the Senate, CCAJP urges lawmakers to reconsider and prioritize policies that genuinely support small enterprises. They remind policymakers of the vital role small businesses play in the economy:

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” stated Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD).

Devin Thorpe, CEO of The SuperCrowd Inc., added, “If Washington truly wants to put America first, it must start by championing small businesses. Until then, this legislation remains a grand illusion-an empty promise that benefits the few at the expense of the many.”
