Spire Motorsports Announces Partnership with Jordan Taylor for Historic Lime Rock Park Debut

In a groundbreaking development, Spire Motorsports has revealed that they will collaborate with renowned driver Jordan Taylor for this weekend’s NASCAR Truck Series event at Lime Rock Park. This marks a historic milestone, as it will be the first time a national division of NASCAR competes on the iconic Connecticut road course.

Jordan Taylor’s Excitement and Expectations for Lime Rock

Expressing his enthusiasm, Taylor shared, “I’m thrilled to join Spire Motorsports for the LiUNA 150. Over the years, I’ve had conversations with several team members, so it’s rewarding to see everything come together now. Transitioning into the Truck Series mid-season will be challenging, but I’m confident in the competitiveness of our Gainbridge Chevrolet Silverado. Lime Rock is a track I know well, although my previous experience there has been in different types of vehicles. I’m eager to embrace this new challenge and see how I adapt quickly over the short weekend.”

This race will also feature Australian Supercars star Cam Waters, who was announced earlier, but Taylor’s participation adds a new layer of excitement. The 34-year-old driver will pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado for Spire in his first-ever Truck Series start.

Jordan Taylor’s Rich Racing Background

While new to the Truck Series, Taylor is no stranger to stock car racing. His resume includes significant achievements in international motorsport, notably as a key figure in the Garage 56 program that competed at Le Mans in 2023. Additionally, Taylor has competed in both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series, showcasing his versatility across different racing disciplines.

Two years ago, Taylor stepped in for Chase Elliott during the Cup race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), starting from the fourth position and finishing 24th after encountering race-day chaos. He also participated in two Xfinity races with Kaulig Racing, finishing 27th at Portland and 16th at the Charlotte Roval.

A Career Defined by Road Racing Excellence

Taylor’s expertise on road courses is well-established. He secured consecutive GTLM titles in 2020 and 2021 and claimed IMSA prototype championships in 2013 and 2017. His impressive list of victories includes three wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, with two overall wins, and a class victory at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. His success extends to triumphs at the Sebring 12 Hours, Watkins Glen’s Sahlen Six Hours, and Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

Insights from Spire Motorsports Leadership

Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports, praised Taylor’s impressive career, stating, “Jordan Taylor’s accomplishments speak volumes. His success on the international stage is truly remarkable, and we’re excited to have him drive our No. 7 Gainbridge Chevrolet Silverado at Lime Rock. This race is also an excellent opportunity to strengthen our ties with Wayne Taylor Racing and highlight the TWG Motorsports family. Both Wayne and Jordan set a high standard in road racing, which can only elevate our team’s performance. We’re all looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Throughout the season, Spire has employed various drivers in the No. 7 truck, including notable names like Kyle Busch, Carson Hocevar, Corey Day, and Sammy Smith. Both Busch and Hocevar have secured wins in the No. 7 truck this year, underscoring the team’s competitive edge.

NASCAR Series Action at Lime Rock and Atlanta

While the Truck Series takes on Lime Rock Park, the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will be racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Cup race will feature a full grid of 40 cars, marking only the third time this season such a large field has competed.
