Choosing the Game of the Month for Push Square
- by Robert Ramsey

May proved to be another unexpectedly lively period within the PlayStation universe. While it didn’t feature the blockbuster titles that marked April, a diverse array of recent game releases kept the community engaged and active.
The standout game for this month, as we declare, is DOOM: The Dark Ages. Beyond its commercial prospects, the game’s intense first-person shooting mechanics received high praise, and many players reported having an exhilarating experience with it.
In the realm of rapid-fire action, we must also highlight Elden Ring Nightreign, which launched just before the month’s end. A new FromSoftware title is always a significant event, though questions remain about whether its multiplayer features will give it an edge in this competitive period.
Switching gears to something different, titles like Legend of Existence I: The Girl Who Steals Time and RoadCraft may not be household names, but critical reception has been notably positive for both, indicating their potential to carve out their own niche.
Additionally, smaller but impactful titles like The Precinct, a lively police simulation, stood out as highlights during May, offering fresh gameplay experiences that resonated with players.
So, which of these PS5 titles from May 2025 captured your attention the most? As always, we invite your input to help us determine the definitive Game of the Month.
To keep everyone aligned, here’s a quick recap of the winners for each month so far this year:
- January: Ninja Gaiden 2: Dimensional
- February: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
- March: Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
- April: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

While he still approaches his hobby with seriousness, RPGs remain his true love-titles like The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, and Tales have all been part of his extensive gaming journey. Some might say he’s played too many, but his enthusiasm remains undiminished.
